Book Review of Clizia

Known today mostly for his thesis The Prince, Machiavelli also wrote several comedies. This one is short, but quite risqué: in some parts rather bluntsexually. Here is a classic plot: man has a beautiful daughter whom he wants to bed down; he tries to marry her to his servant so that he will have immediate access; his wife has other plans. On the sideline is Clizia, the daughter who has no role in the cast. You can guess the rest as there is little doubt about the outcome.
