This is the shocking, true story of Laurie Bembenek, ex-cop, feminist, and former Playboy bunny, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder. Accused of killing her husbands ex-wife, "Babmi" mad headlines in People, Vanity fair, the New York Times and the Washington Post. The daughter of a cop, Laurie was an outstanding student in her police academy class. One on the force whe was horrifed by the police improprieties she encountered- cops having sex with prostitutes, and selling drugs and pornography and she was removed from the Milwaukee PoliceDept for a minor violationl After the murder occured, Lauries husband was granted immunity and his testimony worked against her and aided in her conviction. Defended by a lawyer who was later, disbarrred, Bambi was convicted on what the presiding judge call eht most circumstantial evidence he had ever seen. At this time, she is seeking refugee status in Canada, claiming she was persecuted in the US.
