Macomber is a relatively new read for me. I've only gone through a couple of her books. "Country Brides" is a good representation of how I feel about her stories. "A Little Bit Country" I loved while I hated "Country Bride."

"A Little Bit Country" had hilarious moments and just enough tears. Rorie was so endearing. Both Rorie and Clay were intelligent characters and I could sympathize with their predicament and reactions. They had great chemistry as well. The story had interesting side characters that you want to keep reading about. It flowed so well and was easy to read. It was really a great sweet romance like those old black and white movies.

"Country Bride" went nowhere but in circles. I have found that some of Macomber's sequels to be very forced, like she knows she should write about a character but just didn't have enough of material to develop a full story. Kate, who was so cool in the "A Little Bit Country" came off as the biggest idiot in this story. She was acting like a four year old. I have to give Macomber props that Luke was hot but I have no idea why he would be so hung up on a little brat like Kate. He deserved better. The story was painfully slow and had no direction. Perhaps if Macomber made this into a short story it would have been better because 200 pages of "Oh, I love Clay and Luke doesn't really love me but he feels so good" got old quick. It was hard for me to keep reading Kate's stupidity. What a waste of paper!

I really think "A Little Bit Country" was worth the read but unless you are a huge Macomber fan, you can skip Kate's story. If you have never read Macomber before please keep in mind that she writes very PG stories. So if you are looking for something steamy, she isn't the author for you.
