It is with mixed feelings that I write this review. In some ways I like this book, in other way, I did not care for it at all.

What I liked about it: The characters were very well developed. They were real. They had real struggles and real issues.

The senses were used very well. You did feel as though you were there in the auld Scottish town.

What I didnt like about it: The pacing of the book was ever so slow. The hero did not even enter the stage until over a third of the way into it.

The language was hard to read at times. I was glad that her main characters in this book spoke correct English, because I might have thrown it across the room otherwise.

My thoughts on the storyline overall: The idea behind the story was well done. Its a parallel of the story of Ruth and Boaz. My biggest complaint once again was the pacing. It was downright boring at times.

Who would I recommend this to: Anyone who enjoys history books and reading about nitty gritty details.

While this is not a book that I will read again. It was not terrible either. I give it 3 stars.
