This book is the 3rd in the California Pioneer Series about the Talbot Family. Louisa marries at a young age and lives in Virginia with her father and abusive husband, who is also a slave auctioneer. She escapes and manages to head for California. On the way the ship runs into trouble and she meets a man she is attracted to. Lessons in faith follow.
