I am a speech therapist and read this book to get some new ideas. I was also looking for something I could recommend to the parents of children that I work with. This is a good book if your child has been diagnosed with APRAXIA or CHILDHOOD APRAXIA OF SPEECH. However, if your child is a "late talker" or has a diagnosed language delay, this book may leave you wanting a little more.
This book is a great place to start if you feel your child is behind in his/her language development. If you are the slightest bit concerned--- make an appointment with a speech-language pathologist that has a Master's degree and CCC-SLP after her name. Nearly all insurance companies will pay for an initial evaluation by a speech therapist. The sooner therapy is started (if needed) the better! Kiddos can "catch up" in no time!
