A Chicago Grandmother expects Christmas to be as usual. But her husband and mother just died. Her three daughters and granddaughter can not come for Christmas. There are break-ins, robberies and shootings in her neighborhood. Her brother and kids try to get her to move closer to them. She deals with her trauma by making a memory quilt. She learns not to be so judgmental of her family and others. As she sews the quilt she thinks about her life and how judgmental she has been of other people. Sewing the quilt, studying about Mary the mother of Jesus in the scriptures and circumstances help this Grandma to love other more and think less about their external appearances. This is a very good book.
