Fantasy/magic themed fiction book, similar in complexity and reading level to the Magic Tree House books. This is the first in a series. About a 2nd grade indpendent reading level. If your child likes this first book and wnats more, they will love the series.

This is what is considered a 'formula' series book, the same characters going through the same type plot over and over in each book. Young kids love this type of format sometimes, if they love the characters they enjoy the series until they get bored with it or run out of books in the series.

Our family uses this NOT as a read-aloud but as reading practice for my son's indepdendent reading practice. This type of book has a purpose to serve and children can enjoy it while they do their practice reading.
