This was an enjoyable book, but a bit long. Hand of Isis is the story of Cleopatra told by her half sister/handmaiden Chiarmian. It gives you a good feel for what Alexandria was like at the time and the struggles that Cleopatra had to deal with in order to rule Egypt. This book was more historical fiction than fantasy. Fantasy played a very small part in the telling of this story. Isis and the other gods are present throughout the story, but their roles are small and don't overpower the story. If you are a historical fiction fan I think you will like this book.
