Aggie O'Day has found the assignment of a lifetime. One of Victorian London's most intrepid tabloid journalists, Aggie is hot on the trail of the Shadow, the mysterious thief whose audacious burglaries have the whole city wondering who he is. Aggie does know who he is - all she needs now is to trail him and get conclusive proof. Once she has that proof, unmasking the Shadow will make her career.

Lord Stewart Marsh has a mission. All of London thinks he's simply a shy, eccentric schola. All of London also assumes that the Shadow is just an ordinary thief, motivated by mere greed. He's the last person anyone would picture prowling about the city at night, trying to secure King Arthur's crown - that is, until an audacious lady from the Illustrated News Chronicle catches him in the act.

Trailing him around the city, a redhead called Aggie is determined to unmask him. Now he has to shake her off before her prying interferes with his work. He needs to avoid her. But he doesn't want to. Not when he dreams about her every night.
