Yesterday's Gone by Cindy Woodsmall and Erin Woodsmall is a unique Amish novel. I thought the story was well-written with gentle pacing. The characters are interesting and developed. We get a chance to know the Amish in the Appalachian Mountains. What makes this story unique is a family quilt that can change one event in a person's past. Eliza is grief stricken at the loss of her third child. Eliza only wanted to change one event in her past, but her decision causes a ripple effect on other events. There are good life lessons in the story. Yesterday's Gone is a story that took me a little while to get into (about a quarter of the way in). I am glad that I did not stop reading after the first couple of chapters. Yesterday's Gone is a thought-provoking, emotional novel that will have you staying up late to see how everything turns out.
