A horrific house fire leads firefighters to a dead body. Finding that the young victim was dead before the fire was set, Chicago Fire Department Lt. Reed Solliday requests assistance. After recovering from an injury, Detective Mia Mitchell returns to work in time to be assigned a new case and a new partner. As the fires escalate and the bodies pile up, Mia and Reed must work together to stop a mad man. But when they draw his attention, they just might be his next target.

Another winner from Karen Rose. I guessed the villain early in the story, but that didn't stop my enjoyment of the book. I've been hoping Mia would get her own story since she was introduced in the third book of the series. Mia blames herself for her partner's injury and isn't happy about getting a new partner for this assignment. Likewise, Reed thinks Mia came back from her disability leave too early and isn't thrilled with the situation. But as they work the case, investigating the murders and getting closer and closer to the truth, they must work together to stop a killer bent on revenge. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
