Not sure what brought me to this book but I was surprised by it. John's a former civil trial attorney and writes for his local paper in Florida. He clearly has a mind full of stories. They seem very raw--by that I mean, not finely polished by a team of editors. By half-way thru the book I, a sometimes editor, couldn't keep myself from picking up a pencil to correct the multitude of grammatical errors. If the reader can get past that the stories are nice light reading. It's somewhat refreshing to enjoy the stories as they came from John's mind. I can only compare it to reading something one of my children wrote--eager to get it on paper and not concerned about typos, misplaced commas etc.
