Great story with intereting characters. Will definitely read more of this author's books ..I think it is the #1 in a series . I read this book in one sitting .

From the backcover:

When Simone's former roommate is arrested for murder, it appears to be an open and shut case , but her boss Atlanta atty Sidney Jacoby , takes on the defense and assigns Simone to investigate . This is the kind of case that is right up Mama's alley , so Simone invites her for a visit, mama's nickname is "Candi "because her candid sweet potato complexion . She is charming, ingratiating, intuitive, and shrewd; she is also nosy, maniupulative, foolhardy, and sometimes absolutely infuriating but she has a talent for cooking and for solving mysteries .
