A nice medieval whodunit, this mystery was written in 1993, so its been around for a while. Set in the days when the Domesday Book was being written, a team from the King shows up in Bedwyn town to resolve a dispute over some land. The complainant is found with his throat torn out, but the team doesnt believe there are really wolves on the loose in the forest. I liked the various characters of the investigators soldier, accountant, priests. I dont know if this was the first of the series or not but I settled into it comfortably, not feeling like Id come in to the middle of the story.
