I really couldn't get into this book. It is a classic coming of age tale about a young girl coping with the loss of her grandmother while trying to figure out her place in the world. It alternates between the present and her grandfather's retelling of his days in the CCC during the Depression. I felt like the story was just okay; there was nothing revolutionary about it. But the writing felt amateurish and a little bit cumbersome to read.
