It's hard to believe Peter Wake and Sean Rork have been sailing together for 30 years in adventure after adventure. In this one, they seem to be on the move constantly, as it's one thing after another, with them often retracing their steps---if ships can do that. Commander Wake also has to deal with an executive officer who has no respect for him and whom Wade doesn't trust. So this is an exciting read.

As with many of these novels I kept waiting for the ball to drop, as Wake often discovers---toward the end of the book---that he trusted someone he shouldn't have. This one was sort of different, but I won't ruin it for you. However, you might say for awhile he didn't completely trust some people he should have trusted. Still it ends well, in fact, you might say it ends VERY well. So Wake and Rork can rest easy, free from intrigue, that is until the next book.
