You'll stick every now and then at the spots where typos evaded the editor's pen, but despite that little foible, this book promises a gripping story, memorable characters, and a series of regional history lessons. Well-researched and never pedantic, this prose makes the St. Louis of the 1930s, 40s, and 50s come alive. The story is fresh and intriguing; a real page-turner.
