I entered a giveaway for this because I love the BBC show, "Call the Midwife." Well, this book was not totally what I expected but I actually really liked it. It is about three generations of midwives who are all dealing with their various issues. I do feel that the midwifery in the book was well researched and I really enjoyed the sections about babies being born.
The book is written from three women's perspectives, the chapters rotate: Neva, Grace, Floss, Neva, Grace, Floss... and so on. I wasn't sure that I would like the alternating but as the book went on I did enjoy it a little more. The "secrets" of the women (Neva and Floss in particular) I found to be reasonably compelling. I enjoyed Floss's secret the most, both because I figured it out not even halfway through the book and also because I found it really interesting.
In some ways, this book is like a Lifetime movie. It was a good, fairly quick read that I really did enjoy it.
