The Introduction states: "THE HARBOUR COOKS is a project of the Pender Harbour Branch of St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary. The hospital is situated in Sechelt, and there are six branches, from Hopkins, near Langdale ferry terminal, to Pender Harbour in the North."

Almost all recipes in this book are very simple. Some of the ones that intrigued me included: Moonrocks, Pancho Villas, Brandied Cheese, Pender Harbour Mouse (or Rat) Dip, Lithuanian Potato Pudding, Russian Vegetable Pie, Fish Pancakes, Deep Fried Ribs, Estonian Sauerkraut with Meat, Ukrainian Easter Babka bread, Romance Cake, Stewed Raisin Cake, Dump Cake, Impossible Quiche, Ukrainian Cabbage Rolls, and Bea's Hummingbird Cake. There are many others, a tad more mundane, like beef stew, minestrone soup, and the like.
