More reminiscences from octogenarian writer Effie Leland Wilder.

Perhaps she is just running short on material, but this third novel set in the semi-fictional retirement home where she lives, has a bottom-of-the-barrel feeling. Once again, the sprightly seniors are embarked on a money-raising gambit (this time they want a swimming pool) via a night of storytelling. And once again there's a non-resident in trouble whom Effie manages to sort out with little trouble.

Many of the anecdotes related here were familiar -- whether she was the borrower or the borrowee doesn't really make much difference.

It's still a pleasant read with a couple of grins and an occasional moment of recognition for the reader who is, or is approaching the age of, or has a loved one living in an assisted living facility.
