From the Publisher
In this vivid, elegantly written debut, Lieu explores the risks of self-discovery. The characters in POTENTIAL WEAPONS lead bi-cultural lives, their ethnicity not obvious at first glance. What are you anyway? someone asks. But it is only when cultures clash, when memory is forced into the present moment, that this question can begin to be answered.
------------
I really enjoyed this book. It's an engaging collection of short stories, centered about the theme of belonging to two cultures, and not feeling entirely comfortable in either. The culture may be racial, age, or lost babies. It is a well written, thoughtful book.
