I found this book in audio CD form at a library book sale and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a sequel of sorts to Code Name Verity which has been on my Wish List for awhile.
The book itself was great, but the narration was distracting to me in that several words were not pronounced the way an American girl ( the main character) would say them.
It made the story somehow less believable to me. One example of this was the pronounciation of the word "skeletal". The narrator pronounced it
Skel- LEE-tal instead of SKELL-et-al. I have to back up the CD track to figure out what she was saying in the context of the story. Another word was "tricolor as in a flag made of 3 colors. This really threw me for a loop the way it was pronounced TREE- co- lure. Weird, huh?
I would think in the editing phase in the audio production this would have been discovered as wrong. I'm not really a picky person, but it seemed like it affected the realism of the narrative.
