The photographs are what make this book (and its twin for Northern California) so wonderful. You see the exterior and the beautiful romantic retreats with their unbeatable views or cozy garden enclaves. It covers from the South Central Coast, the Central Sierra, Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez Valley, Catalina Island, the Southern Beach Communities, up to the Southern Mountains, out to the Desert cities and down to the San Diego Area. Even if you can't take that wonderful weekend away, reading about the locations is marvelous for an armchair traveler. Especially liked the hints about specific rooms and their amenities. Great aid for your travel library.
