This is the 1st time reading Elizabeth Palmer & the last if all of her books are like this. I had to force myself through this book by reading a page or two at a time. The comment on the front of the book from the San Antonio Express states "A triumph of understated comedy... and ultimately an enjoyable vicarious slice of the lives of the rich and greedy". I found it to not be funny in any sense of the word, extremely boring & dry, very sad and sick! The two main character are constantly battling their sexual attraction and have supposedly been in love since they were children. Half way through the book, I got the inkling that something was going to come out that they were brother & sister. Sure enough it did...I don't find unrequited love & lust for one's sibling, albeit unknown, to be funny in any way. The author never comes out and says there was a sexual relationship while growing up and falling in love, but one gets that sense. UGH!! Perhaps lifestyles of the rich & greedy British is just too dry for my humor.
