I love this series of books (Sisters in Time). Each book has a typical family (fictional) from that time period in history. Maggie is from 1744. She is friends with some girls who Maggie considers to be more experienced in life than she is. There is much discussion about Johnathan Edwards, how he is stirring the people of Boston, and he how he is leading the "Great Awakening". The subject of slavery is talked about, and Maggies compassion for the slave. Mostly, Maggie learns to serve God. What makes this series different from American Girls is, each book has a Gospel message, and the history is accurate. My daughters and I do a timeline for each book. The website (sisterintime.com) has some lesson plans, as well.
