Eliza wants life in her new town to be different. No one knows what she was like before she came, so if she acts like the popular kids maybe she'll make herself fit in. But the first friend she makes is her neighbor, Dierdre, a loner whose family has even more problems than Eliza's. Then school starts and Eliza's plan begins to work. As she gets noticed by Amanda, Casey and Lauren, she leaves Dierdre behind. Not that Eliza finally has what she wants, is she willing to give it all up when tragedy strikes and Dierdre really needs her?
