Until I started writing a review*, I did not know that this book was written for young readers. This book is meant for ages 8 through 12; and grades 3 - 7th. However, I really enjoyed the writing, so I'm sure younger folks will too. I read a book years ago about Shackleton's extraordinary story and was familiar with this feat. However, this book really captures the amazing story of the Shackleton adventure story.

Twenty-eight British adventurers sailed from England in August 1914. They wanted to be the first team to traverse Antarctica from one side across the land to the other. It is a tribute to Ernest Shackleton's leadership that all of the men lived to tell the tale. As the author details the horrific temperatures and wind blasts that travel over Antarctica, the reader is pulled into this amazing story of bravery and fortitude. It is a wonderful story. Don't miss it.

* I listened to this story and did not see a copy of this story.
