The author works with published sources, first publishing a successful book on the presidents' kids and now sharing with us his conclusions on the effect of the presidents' parents. He emphasizes factors such as a nuturing mother and a powerful father, what presidents later said of their parents, etc. Lincoln, FDR, JFK, and the Bushes are emphasized. All of the presidents are succinctly covered in an appendix. I was interested in some of the less familiar ones and several paragraphs are provided on John Coolidge, for example. Andrew Jackson's dad gets one paragraph and of George Washington's father surprisingly little is known.
Endnotes and bibliography. I also enjoyed reading about Joe Kennedy.
Amazingly, there is no index and so I deduct one star from my rating.
