This book was written completely different than what I had expected. I was planning on reading a strait-forward historical accounting of the cat and was wonderfully surprised by a first-person narrative of the the author's search for the origins of cats and their importance in history, whether through worship or breeding.

It's written in such a charming and creative way that I was instantly hooked and had a hard time putting it down. It's amazing at how often I giggled over the author's stories of her own cats or her assertions of opinion on the various subjects she covered.

A lot is detailed in this book about the author's personal, physical journey of research into trying to find the facts, when available, on much cat-related history and mythology.

This book is nothing less than enchanting and informative and is a must-read for those of use who adore our little feline gods and goddesses.
