Courage, the Adventuress
Check this out! Here you have the German version of Fanny Hill. However, while Fanny plied her trade in a bordello, Courage is more al fresco: a warrior and camp follower through the Thirty Years War in Europe. Her many husbands, legal and pretend, generally meet their demise in short order, leaving her rich but unsatisfied. While the author seems to have a problem with historical dates, he lacks none with variations on a theme. As is Fanny Hill, there is no profanity, yet the message come through clearly. The repetitive mention of battles will make you think you are reading a history book, while the copulation allusions might eventually put you to sleep.
