I like Katie MacAlister and her books always guarantee a couple of laughs.

This book had enough of an interesting story line, a few hot scenes, and chuckles to make me stick with it.

That said, the main female character, Kiya, was so irritating that if the story would have been even slightly less than it was, I would have thrown this book across the room. It's been a while since I've picked up a MacAlister book, but I just don't remember her females being so annoying.

In "Time Thief," the dialogue from Kiya was offputting and a little too ADD for my taste. It was even more weird that the main character actually tries to explain why her thinking is all over the place. Sorry, but to me adding that information didn't make it okay or even cute. The repetition of certain phrases/explanations and the many, many side thoughts during some critical plot points----Accck!

Curiously, it seems that a lot of books I've picked up lately seem to have characters with personality issues. And I'm not talking extra fur or a biting habit. :) Is this a trend to make characters more "real"? I'm not sure, but I hope it runs its course soon.

So, after being away from this author for a while, I gave this book a solid 3 rating. It's okay, but there are other books that will give you just as many laughs without the main character having an annoying personality quirk.

Happy Reading!
