Third in a series that has become one of my absolute favorites, this book really highlights some of the parts that I love most about this series: greyness rather than black and white (meaning the "bad" guys aren't always so bad and the "good" guys so good - we get to see multiple POVs and learn motivations of various characters); excellent characterization, which is impressive in such a large cast of characters; "playing for keeps" - meaning that not everyone survives everything - any character can have anything happen at any time including death or major injury, which really keeps you on the edge of your seat while reading because you truly never know what will happen next.
