After 14 years as a fish, October "Toby" Daye escapes the enchantment only to become a recluse afraid to rejoin the world she inhabited before capture. She is reluctantly pulled back into the world of Fae by a telephone call which puts a curse on her to find a friends killer or die herself. As typically happens when dealing with the Fae, nothing is as it appears. Friends aren't really friends and enemies aren't really enemies. The surprises keep coming and definitely keep Toby on her feet. Though nothing stops the assassins from shooting her because whoever killed her friend is now after her.

The twists are surprising and the betrayals are heart-breaking. Toby is a reluctant hero who is once again back on her game. If you enjoy Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series or Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey, you will definitely like this series as well.
