Taut plotting... interesting story development and worthy characters. It has all the usual characteristics of a Brit whodunit but organized in a quite unusual way. Credible here with romantic link(s) in dire conflict with sinister forces he only suspects may be behind the disappearance of his early childhood girlfriend. Francis keeps the reader in suspense until the very end and how the story unfolds without giving a clue to the reader is a marvel.
