As building contractor/sleuth John Deal sweats in an air-conditioned Miami hotel ballroom, preparing to accept an award he'd rather ski, chaos erupts. A band of heavily armed terrorists infltrates the ceremony, showering the assembled dignitaries with a hail of gunfire. Running for cover, Deal grabs the ceremony's emcee, the First Lady. But his heroism plays into the hand of a suavely masterful madman & Deal & the president's wife are kidnapped - their captor none other than a onetime CIAerative w/a grudge to settle w/his former employers & someome in the highest levels of government just may be helping him out. Escape is downright impossible, requiring a level of bravery & ingenuity out of the reach of any ordinary man but as Standiford reads know...Deal if far from ordinary.
An outstanding all night read.
