I've read two of the author's other books on codes and code-breaking, and enjoyed them. This one was sort of different and I didn't enjoy it as much. Perhaps because it was difficult to keep track of all the players. Maybe because there were so many double and triple agents.

I read the book as I'm also reading Fiona Buckley's mystery series on "Ursula Blanchard," a spy for Elizabeth I. In that series Sir Francis Walsingham plays a prominent role.
