The writing is a bit lofty. The author, a doctor (MD), writes eloquently albeit a bit academic for the 'average' reader. One can detect a chink in the veneer, though, when he writes about the 60s and 70s - he [the author] almost slips into common language. Then, he seems to catch himself and reverts back to above average monologue. The book is written from the perspective of the author's years of [patient] observation and interaction, and personal experience. Very interesting although pretty much common sense, really. Ladies beware: This guy infers that the infusion of women into the work force is the root cause of male mid-life crises, spousal infidelity and the demise of the [traditional] 'family unit'. Since women make up over 50% of the work force in the USA today, makes me wonder where this guy has been!
