I have to say that I wasn't sure about this book when I first started. Reading the book summary, I knew that it deal with the abduction of someone from Earth and his adventures thereafter. I found it to be far more satisfying and convoluted than I'd expected and well worth the time to read it all. The four main characters are well thought out and complex in their personalities and motivations. So many kinds of aliens and cultures are created and the story progresses towards it's conclusion. No, I won't discuss any aspect of the actual events, that's best left to you to discover on your own. At over 600 pages, a long but good read I'm happy I gave the chance to play out. What is being 'Human', what is 'intelligence'? Read taken and draw your own conclusions.
