Ivestigative reporter stood tall in Boston's media world, until she fell in love with the wrong man and fatally compromised a major story. Today in self-imposed exile she covers school board meetings, types up press releases from a tiny newspaper office, and spends restless evenings phoning radio call-in shows under an assumed name -- all while trying to keep her old sleeping pill habit at bay.
One night at a local convenience store her life changes once again. Yielding to impulse at the checkout counter she gives her phone number to a flirtatious stranger, an assistant DA with kind eyes and dangerous grin. A moment later, crouching behind a tower of pasta salad, she witnesses a robbery...and the brutal slaying of the store owner. Now she pursues a surefire front-page story......
