This book is must read for those looking for a new view on the old Adam and Eve tale!
In this story the characters are ancient tribal people, nomads following herds, who hold
the earth and it's goddess, in the form of Lilith, as divine. Lilith is a mysterious person, smelling of herbs, who comes out of the "ancient" past to bring justice. She is divine and human at the same time. Both the men and women of the tribe hold rituals in their own private spaces. The tree is a fig tree where the women go to bleed each month; and, yes, snakes do appear in the plot. It isn't Eve that breaks the "law" but Adam who can't seem to control his ego and must have another "wife." What happens is the early creation of another "God" --- a very human tale!
