Beautifully Broken: How I Found Beauty on my Journey with Chronic Illness

I love the cover image of broken pieces become beautiful when reassembled with gold. This image, reminiscent of the Japanese potter's art of Kintsoukori or golden repair, also perfectly reflects the beauty Alicia Hallock has bravely forged fighting a life of chronic illness. The blurb on the back of the book declares,
"Beautifully Broken was not written solely for those suffering from life long chronic illness. It is a source of light, hope, compassion, and empathy for anyone going through difficult times."
I couldn't agree more--it is "a source of light...in difficult times." I often reflect on Alicia's courage when I need a reason to get up in the morning; strength to put one foot in front of the other; or purpose enough to celebrate another day. Yes, this can be seen as a sad story. But it is told with such determination and gratitude that light overwhelms the darkness.
