What would happen if the United States shut down? The phones don't work, banks have shut down, no gas for transportation. That is exactly what is happening in this book.

Radley is trying to get home to Vermont after spending time volunteering in Haiti. She arrives in the States to a very different government system. The president has been assassinated and nothing is working. Unable to contact her parents and unable to use her credit card, Radley sets out on foot toward home. What will she find when she gets there? And is there any reason for her to stay?

Finding no answers at home, she sets out for the only safe place she has heard about, Canada. This book follows her journey about self and survival. She finds a friend in the most unlikely place. When the truth comes out, Radley must reexamine her life and has to do what is most important for her.

While I did like this book, I did not like the writing style. It dragged in parts where it did not need to. I really enjoyed the black and white pictures throughout the book. It gave more to the story. Hopefully you will enjoy reading it!
