When two orphaned children apprear at Mercy Monroe's doorstep, she only hesitates for a moment before open her heart and home to them. She and her husband, Judd, had no children of their own so maybe it was God's way of sending them the babies they had prayed for. Life on the plains is a hard one with backbreaking work farming, Indian attacks, unexpected sorrows and yet unexpected joys, too. Patchwork Family is poignant and yet uplifting.
