Normally I love the comics and graphic novels published by Vertigo. This is the first one I've read that I was disappointed with.

It is a modern day take on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. When I bought it, it was sealed and I thought it was a Beauty and the Beast tale. In a way it was.

The story is OK, but I did not like the art style at all. That makes a comic hard to read, which is why I only give it one star. One thing I did really like is the use of collage and mixed media. Other than that, Sean Phillips will not be on my list of favorite artists.

I read it ages ago and don't remember much of the story. The Frankenstein creature has been updated to reflect the work of a famous and rich plastic surgeon. There's lots of sex and violence, and a young woman named Sandra gets caught up in the whole mess when she falls in love with the creature, Victor.

I tried to search online for a review or plot summary, but had no luck. If you like modern takes on classic tales, give it a go.
