In Looking for Miracles, a kindhearted EMT/firefighter named Mike Martin is called on to nearly deliver a baby. Lori Harper is destitute: shes recently widowed with a new mouth to feed and a young son to raise, and she lives in a small single-wide trailer on the outskirts of a small town. Mike meets Lori while delivering gifts to the needy as part of a church outreach program, and she goes into labor.

I didnt really warm to this book. The characters were nice, but Lori had white trash trailer park written all over her. I sincerely doubt that many men would find her appealing. Also, everything good happens to Lori: shes instantly given a place to stay, a job, and necessities for her and the new baby. This isnt remotely realistic.

Her late husband is suspected of dealing and making meth, and this subplot is fairly interesting since it involves a local politician. Overall, though, the characters were bland and uninspiring.
