In her fiction book Lucky Baby, Meredith Efken delves into the world of adoption. The story is told from 2 points of view, Wen Ming, a young girl in an orphanage in China & Meg Lindsay, a potential adoptive parent. Having the story alternate points of view allows the reader to see both sides of the story in an unique way. The book closes with a question & answer session with the author as well as discussion questions for a group who reads the book together.
This was the first book I had read by this author. I really enjoyed her style of writing. However, I felt there were too many side stories that I had to attempt to keep up with. I wish she had not felt the need to add so many of the side stories. The book definitely kept my interest though. I read it in 2 nights & reluctantly put it down the first night only because I had to go to work the next morning. I would give the book 4 out of 5 stars. Definitely a worthwhile read for adoptive parents.
