Oh, how I wanted to like this book! But unfortunately the stilted dialogue and odd explanations made it impossible to get into the story. The writing of dialogue reminded me of the way a sixth grader writes. The main character just gives these long-winded "speeches" when he is answering a question. It also seems that contractions are hardly used and this makes the dialogues even worse in the stilted department.
