I loved this book. It is beautifully written with wonderful imagery. The metaphors and analogies she incorporates into the story gives a sense of, "Wow why would I not have made that comparison before." Although the topic of a twelve your old kid fending for herself may be uncomfortable for some, the authors writing style is something special. You feel like you are there personally keeping an eye out for Baby and Jules. Almost as though you could whisper in there ear to tell them to do the right thing. They both lead a tough life, and the story follows the relationship of Baby and her father, her pimp Alphonse, her first love Xaiver, and the random people she meets along the way. The struggles she endures and overcomes make you have mixed emotions as you read, but in the end you are open to interpret the outcome.
