Second in the Fountain Creek Chronicles series, this book continues with characters introduced in Book 1 (Rekindled).
Annabelle is looking to hire someone to get her back to the wagon train going to Idaho to the ranch where her deceased husband was taking her when he fell ill. She needs to leave Willow Springs as soon as possible since most everyone there knows her past and won't let her forget it.
Matthew Taylor applies for the job not knowing that his boss will be none other than the widow of his half-brother. He thinks he knows all about her and after the heated conversation they have, he doesn't think he'll get the job. But he has his own reasons for leaving, so makes a half-hearted attempt to apologize.
Forgiveness is learned from both sides, giving and receiving.
I certainly hope to read more of their story in book 3.
